The Courtyard Homeless Resource Center
The Courtyard Homeless Resource Center in Las Vegas began operations in 2017. In August of 2018, they began staying open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing a safe place for the homeless to sleep at night. In September of 2018, SpreadPeace.org partnered with the Courtyard to deliver services at their location.The Courtyard is located at 1401 Las Vegas Blvd. North, in the area, known as the Corridor of Hope. Its mission is to be a place where homeless individuals can access a variety of resources all in one place. It is based on the work of Haven for Hope, a Texas nonprofit which pioneered a more holistic Approach to homelessness that reduced unsheltered homelessness by 80% in their community. Las Vegas City Councilman Cedric Crear, whose Ward 5 is home to the Courtyard said, “The Courtyard Homeless Resource Center is a new idea that allows us to connect service operate at its current location located at Foremaster Lane and Las Vegas Boulevard, across from Catholic Charities.
The Las Vegas City Council gave the contract to manage The Courtyard to Southern Nevada Community Health Improvement Program (CHIPS). The Courtyard is currently open at 314 Foremaster Lane which is on the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard, across from Catholic Charities. New construction will begin the beginning of 2019 on the adjacent property and will be completed by the end of 2019. After the new construction is completed The Courtyard will expand into – and operate out of – the adjacent property at 1401 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
