The U.S. faces a new report from the National Low Income Housing Coalition. The Gap: A Shortage of Affordable Homes finds that the supply of affordable housing significantly lags behind the low-income population in every state and metropolitan area.
Many of the worst effects of the tax bill President Trump signed in December may take years to emerge. But the damage to the federal tax credit program that finances nearly all affordable housing built in America is already painfully evident. Congress needs to resue this program. if they don’t a quarter million fewer affordable units will be built over the next 10 years, making worse what is already a crisis. Read Full Report
